19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

Victory also signifies he has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters together, so to win a title is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in honour of my child my daughter, because the first title I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and regular reactions on court had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to play at the top level was over.

However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The pair swapped breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden tour victory, seized the initiative to create a final set.

He rescued four initial break points in a tight third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a shot at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
